Overview

Jim Bello is an experienced trial lawyer who focuses on the defense of physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals in medical malpractice actions. He routinely defends high exposure medical malpractice cases to verdict in a wide variety of medical specialties. He also regularly represents healthcare professionals in disciplinary matters before the boards that license them, and before institutional credentialing committees. He also counsels hospitals, urgent care clinics, long term care facilities, drug and alcohol treatment centers, and other healthcare and behavioral health organizations regarding risk management issues and is regularly asked to speak at continuing medical education seminars regarding medical legal issues at the local, national, and international levels.

Given his proven track record at trial, Jim is regularly retained by insurers in London to serve as Underwriter’s Representative to monitor and manage hi-exposure medical malpractice claims throughout the United States. These accounts include some of the largest hospital systems, behavioral health organizations, and correctional medicine companies in the country. He has also been engaged by international and domestic insurers to serve as monitoring counsel for high-valued medical malpractice cases.

Jim has been recognized for several years by Boston Magazine as a “Super Lawyer,” which is a designation reserved for the top 5% of the lawyers in Massachusetts. For several years running, he has also been selected for inclusion in “The Best Lawyers in America,” based on peer review selection criteria.

Jim is licensed to practice, and routinely handles matters, in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
