Overview

Jacqueline Doherty has tried and won several complex jury trials and appellate court arguments and leads all aspects of trial and appellate work in civil actions, specializing in the representation of physicians, nurses, healthcare providers, and hospitals in the defense of medical malpractice claims, as well as handling licensing matters before the Boards of Registration governing licensed healthcare professionals. Jacqueline’s practice also includes the defense of construction liability, product liability, personal injury, and wrongful death cases in state and federal courts.

In her free time, Jacqueline is a painter and amateur pastry chef.

 
Experience

Prior to joining Adler Cohen, Jacqueline was a partner at a boutique trial firm where she tried medical malpractice defense and construction and premises liability cases and argued before the Massachusetts Appeals Court and the First Circuit Court of Appeals.

Recent successful results Jacqueline has obtained on behalf of her clients include the following:

Won a complex civil appeal decided by a three-justice panel of the Massachusetts Appeals Court on the papers without the need for oral arguments, overturning and vacating the findings and order of the trial court.

Obtained a defense verdict on behalf of an obstetrician-gynecologist physician. The plaintiff alleged the physician provided negligent care to a patient by failing to follow up on incidental findings on an ultrasound ordered by her primary care physician, allegedly resulting in her death. Following a two-week trial in Suffolk Superior Court, the jury found in favor of the defendant, finding that the physician’s care and treatment had not caused the plaintiff’s death.

Obtained a successful outcome on behalf of a pediatrician. The plaintiff alleged the physician provided negligent care to a patient, allegedly resulting in physical and emotional pain and suffering. Following two weeks of trial in Suffolk Superior Court, the plaintiff agreed to dismiss all claims against the physician.

Won a complex civil appeal following oral arguments in front of a three-justice panel of the Massachusetts Appeals Court, overturning and vacating the findings and order of the trial court.

Obtained a successful verdict in a construction liability case with allegations of negligence resulting in permanent disability including loss of vision in a single eye. Following a two-week jury trial in Suffolk Superior Court, the jury found in favor of her client.

Obtained a successful outcome in a construction liability case in Middlesex Superior Court with allegations of negligence resulting in damages for permanent disability and complex traumatic brain injuries.

Obtained a successful outcome in a premise liability case in United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts with allegations of negligence resulting in complex traumatic brain injuries.

Obtained a successful outcome in a civil litigation case in Norfolk Superior Court with allegations of negligence resulting in permanent partial disability and complex post traumatic stress disorder.

Obtain a successful verdict in a civil litigation case with allegations of negligence, breach of contract, and consumer protection violations. Following a bench trial in Middlesex Superior Court, the judge found in favor of her client.

Obtained a successful verdict in a civil litigation case with allegations of negligence and consumer protection violations. Following a bench trial in Boston Municipal Court, the judge found in favor of her client.
